Arte, cultura e natureza no canto das destaladeiras de fumo de Arapiraca

Abstract

Esta tese teve como propósito desenvolver um estudo sobre os Grupos Culturais das Destaladeiras de Fumo de Arapiraca, Alagoas, enfocando seu canto, suas histórias e o ambiente onde viveram ou vivem essas mulheres, visando estabelecer relações possíveis entre arte, cultura e ambiente. Nessa direção, foram realizados os seguintes movimentos: discutir a representação da cultura nordestina, tomando como fio condutor a vida e a arte das Destaladeiras de Fumo de Arapiraca; investigar aspectos da cidade de Arapiraca, ressignificando aspectos da sua história interligados à cultura do fumo; discutir interferências socioambientais do município de Arapiraca, surgidos a partir do período em que rendiam grandes produções de fumo até os dias atuais; analisar os cantos de trabalho e sua importância cultural, tendo como referências as Destaladeiras de Fumo; discutir acerca do ser mulher no Nordeste, levantando história, vida e memórias femininas da trabalhadora do campo, estreitando vínculos com mulheres que lidam com as atividades fumageiras. A pesquisa desenhou-se a partir de uma perspectiva qualitativa, na linha dos estudos culturais, utilizando os estudos bibliográficos e entrevistas com algumas Destaladeiras de Fumo como recurso metodológico. Como principais referenciais teóricos, tomaram-se autores que auxiliam a compreensão dos conceitos de cultura, cultura popular ou hibridismo cultural, tais como Hall (2014) e Canclini (2015), ancorando-se ainda em Albuquerque Jr. (2011) para discutir a cultura nordestina. A partir dessa pesquisa, compreende-se que a relação mais estreita entre arte, cultura e natureza pode ser um elo indissociável entre a universidade e as comunidades, fazendo surgir uma ponte em que seja possível o trânsito de diferentes conhecimentos, trazendo vivências dos salões de fumo para as aulas de Educação Ambiental, e os conhecimentos da área da Biologia para comunidades.

The purpose of this thesis was to develop a study on the Cultural Groups of the Destaladeiras de Fumo (Workers who manually strike tobacco leaves) from Arapiraca, Alagoas, focusing on their singing, their histories, and the environment where these women lived or live, with the aim of establishing possible relationships among art, culture and environment. In this direction, the following movements were carried out: to discuss the representation of northeastern culture, taking the life and art of the Destaladeiras de Fumo from Arapiraca as a guiding thread; to investigate aspects of the city of Arapiraca, giving new meaning to aspects of its history linked to tobacco culture; to discuss socio-environmental interferences in the city of Arapiraca, which arose from the period when large tobacco production was produced to the present days; to analyze the work songs and their cultural importance, having as references the Destaladeiras de Fumo; discuss about being a woman in the Northeast, raising the female history, life and memories of the rural women workers, strengthening bonds with women who deal with tobacco activities. The research was designed from a qualitative perspective, along the lines of cultural studies, using bibliographic studies and interviews with some of the Destaladeiras de Fumo as a methodological resource. As main theoretical references, authors who help to understand the concepts of culture, popular culture or cultural hybridism were taken, such as Hall (2014) and Canclini (2015), and also on the basis of Albuquerque Jr. (2011) to discuss the culture of the Northeast. From this research, it is understood that the closer relationship among art, culture and nature can be an inseparable link between the university and the communities, building a bridge in which it is possible to convey different knowledge, bringing experiences from the salons of tobacco to the Environmental Education classes, and knowledge in the area of Biology for communities.
