This paper seeks to investigate whether there is selective police violence against transgender and transvestite women living on the streets of the city of Porto Alegre/RS and how it occurs. This is a qualitative research with the application of semi-structured interviews and participant observation. From the Discursive Textual Analysis, it was possible to categorize three elements of analysis: profile of the interlocutors, police approaches and violence. We sought to demonstrate that the police approach is part of a historical criminalization of bodies understood as abject, either because they escape from cisheteronormative norms, or because they are racialized as non-whites, the result of a social imaginary of subcitizenship. Finally, it was concluded that police approaches are selective and operationalized based on necro-biopolitical mechanisms. It was also possible to verify several reports of violence suffered by the interlocutors, including specificities related to gender. In this regard, it is understood that the transphobia is structural, shaping the practices of the institutions, which reproduce cis-heteronormativities, as in the case of the Police. ...
