This thesis investigates the role of prophetic representations within the Brazilian evangelical field and their relationship with the construction of political meanings between 2010 and 2018. It is based on the understanding that prophetic language, far from being restricted to the sphere of spirituality, operates as a form of interpretation of social reality, being mobilized to attribute meaning to political events and to guide collective practices. The analysis articulates contributions from cultural history, the sociology of religion, and political history, mobilizing categories such as representation (Chartier), habitus, and field (Bourdieu), in order to understand the complex relationship between religion and politics in contemporary Brazil. In this context, the role of neopentecostal leaders stands out, who, invested with charismatic authority, operate as agents of mediation between the religious field and the political field, producing and disseminating prophetic discourses that confer intelligibility upon events and guide collective positions. Such agents, by mobilizing symbolic repertoires associated with the idea of divine election, spiritual warfare, and national destiny, contributed to the construction of a communal disposition around a political matrix aligned with the so-called “New Right.” Throughout the decade analyzed, prophecies came to play a central role in the interpretation of political crises, being associated with narratives of corruption, downfall, and national restoration. In this process, the trajectory of Jair Bolsonaro — initially situated on the margins of the dominant political field — was progressively reinterpreted in light of these representations, being resignified as that of a leader chosen by God. His rise, especially from 2016 onward, was accompanied by the intensification of discourses that presented him as an instrument of the nation’s moral and spiritual renewal, culminating in his configuration as a “political messiah” within the evangelical imaginary. ...
