A dupla presença do MAC RS a potência estética e o engajamento com o território

Abstract

Esta pesquisa apresenta um debate sobre o Museu de Arte Contemporânea do RS (MAC RS), em sua nova sede no 4º Distrito de Porto Alegre, confrontando o uso da terminologia museu bairro em seus documentos oficiais. O objetivo geral é investigar se o MAC RS se alinha ao conceito de museu bairro a partir das abordagens teóricas da Museologia. Para tal, este estudo estruturou-se em três eixos de análise: a análise do histórico do MAC RS (gestão, acervo e a proposta da nova sede) em paralelo com o contexto do 4º Distrito (ocupação industrial no século XX e revitalização); a discussão dos quadros teóricos do museu integral (no campo da Museologia) e museu disperso (curadoria e Novo Institucionalismo); e a implementação de ações concretas que fortaleçam o papel comunitário do museu no território. A metodologia fundamenta-se em uma abordagem qualitativa de caráter exploratório e na ação-pesquisa. O que envolve levantamento bibliográfico e documental, além do estudo de caso de três iniciativas do MAC RS que buscam se alinhar aos conceitos de museu integral e disperso: o projeto educativo Lab. Presença, a ação emergencial Juntos pelo 4D e a exposição inaugural Nuno Ramos: Três Casas. O estudo conclui que a designação de museu bairro não se aplica totalmente à motivação fundadora do MAC RS, mas propõe um modelo de dupla presença institucional fundamentado nos conceitos de museu integral e museu disperso. Este modelo articula a potência estética da arte contemporânea com o engajamento com o território, consolidando o papel do museu como agente cultural e social. Como pesquisadora e, simultaneamente, diretora do MAC RS, este trabalho transcende a análise teórica, oferecendo diretrizes de gestão e curadoria que articulam reflexões críticas com a implementação imediata nas sedes do 4º Distrito e na Casa de Cultura Mario Quintana.

This research presents a debate concerning the Museum of Contemporary Art of Rio Grande do Sul (MAC RS), focusing on its new headquarters in Porto Alegre's 4th District, by confronting the use of the "Neighborhood Museum" terminology in its official documents. The general objective is to investigate how the foundations of Museology can be used to verify if the MAC RS genuinely aligns with the Neighborhood Museum concept. To this end, the study is structured around three analytical axes following the order of investigation: 1) The analysis of the MAC RS history (management, collection, and the new headquarters proposal) in parallel with the 4th District’s context (20th-century industrial occupation and revitalization); 2) The discussion of the theoretical frameworks of the Integral Museum (in Museology) and the Dispersed Museum (Curatorship and New Institutionalism); and 3) The proposal of concrete actions to strengthen the museum's community role within the territory. The methodology is based on qualitative, exploratory approach and action research, involves bibliographic and documentary research, in addition to a case study of three MAC RS initiatives that seek to align with the Integral and Dispersed Museum concepts: the educational project Lab. Presença, the emergency action Juntos pelo 4D, and the inaugural exhibition Nuno Ramos: Três Casas. The study concludes that the Neighborhood Museum designation does not fully apply to the MAC RS's founding motivation. Instead, it proposes a model of double institutional presence based on the Integral Museum and Dispersed Museum concepts to consolidate its role as a cultural and social agent. As a researcher and, simultaneously, the director of the MAC RS, this work transcends theoretical analysis, offering management and curatorial guidelines that articulate critical reflections with immediate implementation across the 4th District and CCMQ headquarters.
