Theory guides how this can be done, and how it happens. However, it is in this sense that the work sought to relate theory to practice, by highlighting the reality experienced by municipal servants in the Metropolitan Region of Porto Alegre on the subject and, with that, observing and understanding how the theme of innovation is present in the daily life of these servers, and how they relate to their processes. The methodology used involves a qualitative research, with semi-structured interviews, with questions elaborated from the theoretical framework and the specific objectives of the research, and which were carried out with 10 (ten) public servants working in the Region. According to the results obtained, it was found that the municipal servants of the RMPA demonstrate, even though they have not received adequate training, that, for the most part, they were familiar with the theme of innovation, however, the importance of the human element and cultural, in addition to technological, to develop innovation in the public service. ...
