A mulher valente : gêneros e narrativas

Abstract

Neste artigo, esboçamos, a partir de pesquisas etnográficas, em um bairro popular de Porto Alegre, reflexões sobre o modo de expressão oral em grupos populares do Brasilurbano. Considerando narrativas contadas por mulheres “enganadas” sobre episódios de suas próprias vidas, procuramos num primeiro momento identificar significados subjacentes ao ethos do grupo. Em um segundo momento, consideramos as narrativas à luz da lógica do contador de histórias, isto é, alguém que tem como objetivo principal entreter a platéia, paraassim prevenir contra uma interpretação mecânica do material. Sugerimos que é através de uma maior atenção para com o estilo das formas expressivas, e com a relação entre estilo e valor que podemos melhor compreender as construções diversas do sujeito na sociedade contemporânea.

In this article, on the basis ofethnographic studies in Porto Alegre, we outline reflections on the oral mode of expression in working-class groups of urban Brazil. Considering narratives told by “betrayed” women about episodes in their ownlives, we seekto identify the subjacent symbols from the group's ethos. in order to avoid a mechanical interpretation of the material. Our aim is to show that, in order to understand the diverse constructions of the subject in contemporary society, it is imperative to give greater attention to the style ofexpressive forms and particularly to the relation between that style and the values being expressed.
