A evangelização dos povos do Congo e a expansão do império português nos séculos XVI e XVII : aspectos linguísticos, históricos e jurídicos

Abstract

A influência do Império Português deu-se através de agentes práticos, focados em trabalhar a mensagem cristã europeia ao local. Com eles, o Cristianismo ganhou adeptos, vindo a gerar um Cristianismo africano próprio, incluindo neste o cristianismo afro-americano. Objetiva-se, nesse contexto, conhecer como o Império Português interagiu com os povos centro-africanos e como as redes de conexão do Império Português se estabeleceram na região. Assim, busca-se, neste trabalho, explorar a maneira pela qual houve a cristianização da região da África Centro-Ocidental: genericamente, a região da bacia do Congo, bem como o próprio destino dos Estados da região - Congo, Ndongo – em seu relacionamento com a Fé Cristã. Para tal, buscou-se ler autores de referência na área, bem como esparsas fontes originais. Concluiuse que após catequizações de maneiras diferentes, através de uma normatividade múltipla nesse sentido, surgiram realidades diversas daquelas esperadas no início dos processos de conversão.

The influence of the Portuguese Empire assumed form through practical agents focused on transmitting the European Christian message to the region. With them, Christianity grew in adepts, coming to generate an African Christianity by itself, including Afro-American Christianity. Thus, this study aims to know how the Portuguese Empire interacted with the Central African peoples and how the Portuguese Empire’s connections established themselves in the region. For instance, this work intends to explore the way how Christianization in Central-Western Africa came to happen: generically, the Congo Basin region, as well as how the States of the region – Kongo and Ndongo – interacted with Christianity. To do it, reference authors on the subject were read, as well as the original sources, albeit scattered. It was concluded that, after catechism succeeded, through a scenario of multiple normativity, realities not like those originally intended when conversion processes begun came to be.
