A justificação dos princípios de justiça em John Rawls

Abstract

O objetivo deste trabalho é analisar um aspecto específico da teoria da justiça de John Rawls: a justificação dos princípios de justiça na posição original em Uma Teoria da Justiça (1971) e a reformulação do argumento em obras posteriores de Rawls, especialmente em O Liberalismo Político (1993). Para tanto, foi realizada uma reconstrução crítica dos principais conceitos introduzidos pelo autor nas obras citadas e em outros artigos, à luz de comentários publicados por outros autores no âmbito da filosofia política. Nesse sentido, o presente trabalho é dividido em três partes: na primeira, busca-se realizar uma exposição das motivações e do objetivo do autor quando da publicação de Uma Teoria da Justiça, analisando de maneira coerente seus principais conceitos. Na segunda parte, o argumento ao redor dos princípios de justiça na posição original e o método de justificação moral de Rawls são explanados, com comentários e críticas pontuais importantes. Por fim, no epílogo, realiza-se um fechamento do trabalho, expondo as respostas de Rawls às objeções apresentadas no capítulo anterior e a mudança de rumo do pensamento Rawlsiano após a publicação de Teoria da Justiça.

The purpose of this paper is to analyze a specific aspect of John Rawls's theory of justice: the justification of the principles of justice in the original position in A Theory of Justice (1971) and the reformulation of the argument in later works by Rawls, especially in Political Liberalism (1993). In other to do this, a critical reconstruction of the main concepts introduced by the author in the works cited and in other articles was made, in the light of comments published by other authors in the context of political philosophy. In this sense, the present work is divided into three parts: in the first one, it seeks to present an explanation of the author's motivations and objective when publishing A Theory of Justice, coherently analyzing its main concepts. In the second part, the reason around the principles of justice in the original position and Rawls's method of moral justification are accounted, with the introduction of important punctual comments and criticisms. Finally, the epilogue closes the paper, exposing Rawls's responses to the objections presented in the previous chapter and clariying the change of direction of Rawlsian thought after the publication of A Theory of Justice.
