Memórias silenciosas : (in) visibilidade e saberes femininos no Museu Recanto do Balseiro, Itá, Santa Catarina

Abstract

A pesquisa ora apresentada foi desenvolvida no Programa de Pós-graduação em Museologia e Patrimônio da Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul e objetiva discutir sobre a invisibilidade da mulher no contexto da extração madeireira no oeste de Santa Catarina, mais especificamente na cidade de Itá, durante o período de 1940 a 1960, tendo como estudo de caso o Museu Recanto do Balseiro cujo acervo é, em parte, constituído por objetos e fotografias que têm a função de recuperar a memória da mulher do balseiro. Trata-se de uma pesquisa qualitativa que tem como base a metodologia da História Oral a fim de reconstituir as histórias de vida de mulheres, a partir de temas como infância, educação, casamento, maternidade e trabalho, e como procedimento para a problematização do estudo, a técnica de grupo focal aplicada com um grupo de agricultoras/aposentadas, no intuito de compreender como o museu opera a memória da mulher. Apoia-se em debates da Museologia Social, da História das Mulheres a fim de identificar marcas de invisibilidade e do silenciamento da mulher nos museus, na historiografia oficial e, sob a luz dos depoimentos das participantes da pesquisa, com base nos estudos de Memória e Gênero, busca-se reconstruir a identidade da mulher rural por meio de suas lembranças e compreender as relações de poder entre homens e mulheres social e historicamente constituídas. Avalia como o museu participa, ou pode participar do processo de valorização e preservação dos saberes e fazeres das mulheres por meio do acervo e narrativas. Conclui que o estudo fomentou novas abordagens e a inclusão de ações culturais no museu sobre a mulher na história balseira e, sobretudo, permitiu às participantes da pesquisa se reconhecerem enquanto partícipes do desenvolvimento rural, levando-as para o despertar de uma consciência crítica acerca do seu papel no desenvolvimento da atividade madeireira.

The research presented here was developed in the Graduate Program in Museology and Heritage of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul and aims to discuss the invisibility of women in the context of logging in western Santa Catarina, more specifically in the city of Itá, during the period from 1940 to 1960, having as a case study the Recanto do Balseiro Museum whose collection is, in part, made up of objects and photographs that have the function of retrieving the memory of the rafters wife. This is a qualitative research based on the Oral History methodology in order to reconstruct women's life histories, based on themes such as childhood, education, marriage, maternity and work, and as a procedure for problematizing the study, the focus group technique applied to a group of farmers / retirees, in order to understand how the museum operates the memory of women. It is based on debates of Social Museology, Women's History in order to identify invisibility marks and the silencing of women in museums, official historiography and, in the light of the testimonies of the research participants, based on the studies of Memory and Gender, it seeks to reconstruct the identity of rural women through their memories and to understand the power relations between socially and historically constituted men and women. It assesses how the museum participates, or can participate in the process of valuing and preserving the knowledge and practices of women through the collection and narratives. It concludes that the study fostered new approaches and the inclusion of cultural actions in the museum about women in the history of the city and, above all, allowed the research participants to recognize themselves as participants in rural development, leading them to awaken a critical awareness about the its role in the development of the activity logging
