Jovens trabalhadores e o movimento sindical : percepções e participação sindical

Abstract

Esta dissertação aborda a relação da juventude trabalhadora com o Movimento Sindical. Nosso principal objetivo nessa pesquisa consiste em compreender as percepções dos jovens com relação ao sindicalismo. Para tanto buscamos analisar as variações destas percepções tanto a partir das formas de inserção e relação estabelecidas como o mundo do trabalho (incluindo, a forma como os jovens estão inseridos no mercado de trabalho, os seus projetos profissionais futuros e a centralidade do trabalho na vida dos jovens), quanto as percepções e experiências de participação política. Inicialmente mapeamos o comportamento da filiação sindical da juventude trabalhadora entre 2003 e 2014, a partir de dados extraídos da PNAD, observando-se leve redução da já baixa taxa de sindicalização juvenil, com crescimento relativo da participação de negros e mulheres. A pesquisa qualitativa foi realizada com jovens trabalhadores metalúrgicos e telefônicos da Região Metropolitana de Porto Alegre e com dirigentes sindicais da juventude da CUT-Nacional. Além disso, foram feitas observações em atividades da Juventude da CUT-RS e da CUT-Nacional. Na pesquisa qualitativa enfocamos os sentidos e significados atribuídos ao trabalho, a relação entre os tipos de inserção, a filiação sindical, os projetos profissionais, as percepções sobre a política e participação em movimentos identitários. Verificou-se que os jovens diferenciam os sentidos que atribuem ao trabalho com relação ao trabalho exercido e o trabalho projetado, buscando novas inserções profissionais. Além disso, foi identificada uma situação paradoxal, o afastamento dos jovens metalúrgicos e telefônicos com relação aos sindicatos, ao mesmo tempo que consideram importante o papel dos sindicatos na luta por melhores condições de trabalho.

This dissertation addresses the relationship of working youth with the Trade Union Movement. Our main objective in this research is to understand the perceptions of young people about the unionism. In order to do so, we seek to analyze the variations of these perceptions both from the relation with the world of work (including, the way young people are inserted in the labor market, their future professional projects and the centrality of work in life of young people), as well as the perceptions and experiences of political participation. Initially, we map the behavior of youth unionization between 2003 and 2014, based on data extracted from PNAD, observing a slight reduction in the already low rate of youth unionization, with a relative increase in the participation of blacks and women. Qualitative research was carried out with young metallurgical and telephone workers from the Metropolitan Region of Porto Alegre and with trade union leaders from the youth of CUT-Nacional. In addition, were made observations on Youth activities of CUT-RS and CUT-Nacional. In the qualitative research we focus on the meanings attributed to the work, the relation between the types of insertion, union membership, professional projects, perceptions about politics and participation in identity movements. It was verified that the young people differentiate the senses that they attribute to the work with respect to the work exerted and the projected work, seeking new professional insertions. In addition, a paradoxical situation was identified, the withdrawal of the young metallurgists and telephones from the unions, while at the same time they considered the importance of the unions' role in the fight for better working conditions.
