Modelagem matemática e temas transversais : mais uma possibilidade

Abstract

O presente trabalho tem como objetivo apresentar uma alternativa para o ensino da matemática que busque integrar os conteúdos trabalhados nesta disciplina à realidade, procurando desta forma contribuir para a formação de cidadãos conscientes e responsáveis pelos seus atos e capazes de compreender o mundo em que estão inseridos. Uma das orientações presentes nos Parâmetros Curriculares Nacionais (1997) é de abordar em sala de aula temas como ética, saúde, trabalho e consumo, orientação sexual, pluralidade cultural e meio ambiente - temas transversais. A orientação é de que as matérias escolares, como Português, Ciências, História e Matemática, tragam elementos de suas disciplinas para esclarecer as relações existentes entres elas e os temas transversais, auxiliando assim na sua compreensão. Pretendendo apresentar uma alternativa de ensino que mostre que é possível articular a matemática e os temas transversais, é utilizada a modelagem matemática como metodologia de ensino para elaborar módulos de ensino. Espera-se, assim, mostrar aos alunos a matemática como uma ferramenta útil para a compreensão de fenômenos que nos rodeiam. As atividades foram baseadas em uma reportagem da revista Veja sobre o desmatamento da Floresta Amazônica, que está relacionada ao tema transversal meio ambiente. Com os dados apresentados pela reportagem e utilizando uma matemática de nível básico é possível entender como são feitas as previsões e representações apresentadas pela revista. O objetivo é apresentar uma forma de ensino que desperte o interesse do aluno, ao mesmo tempo em que mostre como é possível, através da Modelagem Matemática, articular a Matemática e os Temas Transversais, obedecendo assim às orientações presentes nos Parâmetros Curriculares Nacionais.

This paper aims to present an altemative way to teach mathematics that seeks to integrate the contents learned in this course to reality, trying to contribute to the formation of citizens aware and responsible for their actions and able to understand the world around them. One ofthe guidelines in the National Curriculum Parameters (1997) isto discuss in the classroom topics as ethics, health, employment and consumption, sexual orientation, multiculturalism and the environment - cross-cutting themes. The guideline says that the school subjects, such as Portuguese, Science, History and Mathematics, should bring elements of their disciplines to clarify the relationship between them and the cross-cutting themes, thereby assisting in their understanding. Intending to offer an altemative to education that shows it is possible to articulate math and cross-cutting themes, it was used the mathematical modeling as a teaching methodology to develop modules for teaching. The intention is to show mathematics as a useful tool for the understanding ofthe phenomena that surround us. It were organized activities based on a report by Veja magazine on the deforestation of the Amazon rainforest, which is related to the cross-cutting theme of the environment. With the data presented and using a basic levei of mathematics, it is possible to understand how the forecasts and representations are rnade and presented by the magazine. The activities proposed in this paper are designed to present a form o f teaching that awakens the interest o f the student, while also show how it is possible, through the mathematical modeling, to articulate Mathematics and the cross-cutting themes, thus complying with the &uidelines in the National Curriculum Parameter.
