Universidade e cidade, as interfaces de uma história

Abstract

Este trabalho visa problematizar a questão das interfaces da história de Porto Alegre, capital do estado do Rio Grande do Sul, Brasil, com a história da Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), instituição esta com alguns cursos existentes há mais de cem anos. Dentro destas interfaces históricas daremos ênfase à questão da espacialização e da materialidade da universidade dentro da cidade. Lançando mão das ferramentas teóricas ligadas à história cultural, trabalha-se o vínculo histórico nos diferentes contextos de época da Instituição Universidade com o urbano. Com o conhecimento do que hoje é a UFRGS, averigua-se como se deu o seu crescimento físico dentro da cidade de Porto Alegre, quais as inter-relações e reflexos da instituição na cidade e vice-versa.

This paper aims to discuss the issue of the interfaces between the history of Porto Alegre, capital of the state of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, with the history of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), these institution has some existing courses that subsist for over a hundred years. Within these historical interfaces we will emphasize the issue of spatiality and materiality of the university within the city. Making use of theoretical tools relating to cultural history , we work with the historical link in the different contexts of the time of the Institution University with the urban. With the knowledge of what is now the UFRGS, it inquires how was its physical growth within the city of Porto Alegre, and what are the interrelationships and the reflexes of the institution in the city and vice versa.
