Entre gêneros : a representação do intersexo em XXY

Abstract

O presente trabalho buscou apreender a representação do intersexo no filme XXY (2007), de Lucía Puenzo. Para tanto, foi evidenciado o lugar dos intersexes na história da sexualidade, e também o que são representações sociais, suas funções e como elas são criadas e se manifestam, tanto na sociedade e no indivíduo quanto no cinema narrativo, com o intuito de construir uma base teórica para a análise do filme. A metodologia empregada consistiu na etnografia de tela e na análise de imagem, a partir das categorias “família”, “conhecidos” e “amores”, que serviram para compreender os núcleos de relacionamentos que a personagem intersex estabeleceu no filme. As análises apresentaram o lugar da personagem intersex como sendo o de abjeto, passível de violação, de desejo e de superproteção, e sempre tendo suas escolhas e vontades subjugadas pela alteridade. A inexistência de uma representação previsível e estereotipada do intersexo comprovou a premissa de que ainda não há uma representação social definida deste em nossa sociedade.

This study sought to identify the representation of intersex in Lucía Puenzo’s movie XXY (2007). In order to achieve this, the place of intersexes in the history of sexuality was shown, and also what are social representations, their functions and how they are created and expressed, in society, in the individual and in the narrative cinema, in order to build the theoretical basis for the movie analysis. The methodology consisted of ethnography of media and elements of image analysis, from the categories “family”, “acquaintances” and “lovers”, which served to comprehend the core relationships that the intersex character established in the movie. The analysis indicated the place of the intersex character as the abject, subject to violation, desire and overprotection, and always having his/her choices and desires subdue by others. The absence of a predictable and stereotyped representation of the intersex proved the premise that there is not a social representation defined of it in our society yet.
