A Lei que institui a Política Nacional sobre Mudança do Clima – PNMC no seu Artigo 3º considera que todos têm o dever de atuar, em benefício das presentes e futuras gerações. O Crédito de Carbono, uma espécie de moeda ambiental, representa um certificado adquirido em compensação das emissões de toneladas de dióxido de enxofre, monóxido de carbono, e outros gases poluentes. Esta é a principal iniciativa, hoje, para a compensação e redução dos impactos decorrentes das interferências antrópicas no sistema climático, Neste cenário, o objetivo desta pesquisa é explorar como as Instituições Financeiras estão oferecendo soluções para o mercado de crédito de Carbono. A presente pesquisa é de natureza exploratória, a partir de uma Survey junto a 62 Projetos de atividade MDL – Mecanismo de Desenvolvimento Limpo – submetidos e aprovados nos termos da Resolução nº 1 da CIMGC – Comissão Interminesterial de Mudança Global do Clima. Foi analisada a percepção do mercado financeiro com a atual fase do mercado de carbono, no que tange a interlocuções institucionais, prospecção de negócios, elaboração de estudos de mercado e de planos de negócio. Os principais resultados apontam que a maximização do potencial econômico, financeiro e sócio-ambiental do mercado de carbono, necessariamente passa pelo dinamismo e senso de oportunidade das instituições financeiras nos projetos visando a redução das emissões antrópicas por fontes ou o aumento das remoções antrópicas por sumidouros de Gases de Efeito Estufa (GEE) em qualquer setor da economia, são os chamados Mecanismos de Desenvolvimento Limpo – MDL. A liniência das ações públicas e privadas na questão está atrasando o Brasil diante dos demais países em desenvolvimento que implantam projetos de MDL. ...
