A hipertensão arterial é uma doença silenciosa, o que dificulta e retarda a procura pelo tratamento. Na saúde pública é um grande problema a ser enfrentado, pois a cada dia aumenta a incidência de casos na população. O objetivo principal do trabalho foi analisar como as políticas públicas no município de Uruguaiana vêm enfrentando os problemas da hipertensão arterial na visão do profissional gestor das unidades de saúde. Foi desenvolvido um estudo referente ao conceito e epidemiologia da hipertensão arterial, políticas implantadas e dificuldades em relação ao programa para hipertensos. Como procedimento metodológico para o desenvolvimento desta temática usou-se um questionário, com a participação de 12 gestores que atendem hipertensos na cidade. O estudo revelou que a adesão ao tratamento ainda é baixa no município, a minoria mostra interesse ou motivação para levar uma vida saudável, na visão do gestor da unidade. As principais dificuldades enfrentadas e que foram apontadas pelos gestores das unidades são: falta de motivação e comprometimento com o tratamento 38,8%, a falta de medicamentos 22,5%, a falta de mudanças de estilo de vida 16,6%, recursos materiais/humanos 16,6%. As melhorias apontadas que mais predominaram para o enfrentamento da hipertensão: ter mais capacitação de profissionais 21,7%, evitar a falta de medicamentos 13%, equipes multiprofissionais 13%. As políticas públicas em vigor no município precisam estar mais preparadas e fortalecidas para dar apoio aos hipertensos. Parcerias entre comunidade local, unidades de saúde e as famílias são importantes, assim como a disseminação de informações, a identificação de responsabilidades e construção de apoio mútuo. ...

High blood pressure is a silent illness, which complicates the seeking treatment, delaying it. In public health, a major problem to be faced, because every day increases the incidence of cases in the population. The main objective of this study was to analyze how public policies in Uruguaiana city are facing the problems of hypertension among the view of the professional manager of the health units. A study was developed on the concept and epidemiology of hypertension, implemented policies and difficulties relative to program for hypertension. As a methodological procedure for the development of this theme was used a questionnaire, participating 12 managers who treat hypertensive people in the city. The study showed that adherence to treatment is still low in the city. And the population shows interest or motivation to lead a healthy lifestyle, among the view of the unit manager. The main difficulties identified by managers of the units were: lack of motivation and commitment to treatment (38.8%), lack of medicines (22.5%), lack of changes in lifestyle (16.6% ), material / human resources (16.6%).Most predominant mentioned Improvements to combat hypertension: having professional skills (21.7%), prevent lack of medicines (13%), multidisciplinary teams (13%).
