Due to the constant pursuit of man for a higher standard of life and longevity, there is a greater need to develop new surgical techniques, treatments for diseases and new materials to meet the needs required prioritizing health. Among those new materials are biomaterials. One of the biomaterials designed by scientists and researchers to provide better health, increased well-being and better quality of life is called stent. Among the advantages of the use of such materials are good versatility and applicability. However, they still have some limitations. Because of those barriers, there is a search for materials and formats that improve the performance of the stent applied to certain areas of medicine. The present study sought to verify, through mechanical testing (tensile test and hardness), the influence of the amount of poly (isoprene) in polymer blend of poly(lactide - co-glycolide) (PLGA) on the confection of bronchtracheais stents. After the tests, we can conclude that the amount of poly (isoprene) does not influence significantly the hardness of PLGA. On the other hand, the IR has a beneficial influence on the values of toughness, tensile strength at break and elongation at break in the polymer blend. ...
