From nowhere to somewhere : towards a perspectival realist reading of Relational Quantum Mechanics

Nocontexto do debate filosóofico entre realismo e antirrealismo, defensores deste têm como umdosargumentos mais conhecidos a seu favor a metainducão ao pessimista de Laudan (1981), enquanto defensores daquele geralmente recorrem ao argumento do milagre de Putnam(1979). Tendoemvistaarelevˆancia destes argumentos, contribuições recentes em filosofia da ciência têm buscado desenvolver teorias que reúnam aspectos positivos de ambas as posicões, mas que não tendam aos seus extremos. Este é o caso do realismo perspectivista de Michela Massimi e, no âmbito dos fundamentos da mecânica quântica, a teoria de Carlo Rovelli. Neste trabalho, buscamos aproximar as duas construções teóricas a partir de seu posicionamento em relação ao debate realismo/antirrealismo e analisar cada uma individualmente quanto à sua coerência física e filosófica.

In the context of the philosophical debate between realism and anti-realism, contenders of the latter have as one of the most known arguments on theirsideLaudan’spessimistic metainduction (1981), whereas defenders of the former often rely on Putnam’s miracle argument (1979). In light of the relevance of such arguments, recent contributions to philosophy of science have aimed at developing theories that combine positive aspects from bothpositions, and which donotfall into their extremes. This is the case of Michela Massimi’s perspectival realism, and within the foundations of quantum mechanics, the interpretation of Carlo Rovelli. In this work, we attempt to bring those two theoretical constructs together based on their positions relative to the realism/anti-realism debate, as well as to analyze each one individually regarding their physical and philosophical coherence.
