“Parece a casa da minha avó” : diálogos entre estudantes do ensino médio de Porto Alegre e as enchentes do Vale do Taquari de setembro de 2023 a partir de fotografias do desastre

Abstract

Este trabalho analisa as percepções de estudantes do Ensino Médio de Porto Alegre (RS) sobre as enchentes que atingiram o Vale do Taquari em setembro de 2023, a partir de fotografias jornalísticas publicadas nos portais Zero Hora e na agência de notícias Reuters. A pesquisa está fundamentada na Teoria Geral do Imaginário de Gilbert Durand. Como objetivo geral, busca-mos entender qual é a percepção dos estudantes do ensino médio frente às fotografias apresen-tadas. Entre os objetivos específicos, procuramos discutir as intersecções possíveis entre o fo-tojornalismo, o jornalismo ambiental e a educação ambiental, refletir sobre as possibilidades do fotojornalismo mobilizar sentimentos nos estudantes e mapear as falas dos estudantes secunda-ristas relacionando-as com as teorias do imaginário. As imagens foram selecionadas por meio de uma leitura flutuante, seguida da aplicação do método de leitura simbólica na primeira etapa da investigação. Em um segundo momento, realizamos grupos focais com os estudantes, cujas falas foram analisadas por meio da análise mitocrítica. Constatamos uma predominância, dentro das imagens selecionadas, do regime místico da imagem, que abriga a fusão, o intimismo, o calmo, o profundo e o retorno ao espaço de origem. Discutimos a oposição das fotografias às movimentações agudas, conturbadas, agitadas e heroicas das enchentes, contribuindo para o entendimento de que o imaginário é um dinamismo equilibrante. Concluímos que esta aborda-gem contribui para a compreensão do imaginário como um dinamismo equilibrante.

This study analyzes the perceptions of high school students from Porto Alegre (RS) regarding the floods that affected the Taquari Valley in September 2023, based on journalistic photo-graphs published on the Zero Hora news portal and by the Reuters news agency. The research is grounded in Gilbert Durand’s General Theory of the Imaginary. The general objective is to understand the perceptions of high school students when confronted with the selected images. The specific objectives include discussing the possible intersections between photojournalism, environmental journalism, and environmental education; reflecting on the potential of photo-journalism to evoke emotions in students; and mapping the students' responses in relation to theories of the imaginary. The images were selected through a floating reading, followed by the application of symbolic reading in the first stage of the investigation. In a second stage, focus groups were conducted with the students, and their statements were analyzed using mythocrit-ics. We identified a predominance of the mystical regime of the image, characterized by fusion, intimacy, stillness, depth, and a return to the place of origin. We discuss how the photographs oppose the agitated, chaotic, and heroic portrayals commonly associated with flood events, con-tributing to the understanding of the imaginary as a balancing dynamism. We conclude that this approach contributes to a deeper comprehension of the imaginary as a symbolic force of equi-librium.
