Introduction: nowadays, among the desirable skills for the education of health professionals, one must consider their capacity to use computational resources properly, safely and responsibly. This specific skill can be expressed by the eHealth Literacy. It is believed that, during academic education, such skill can be developed. Objective: analyze the eHealth Literacy level of nursing students of a public university and its associated factors. Materials and Methods: transversal study, in a public university located in the southern region of Brazil, with the participation of nursing students from said university. Students who were starting at the university and were studying in the first or second semester and students who were nearing the course’s conclusion in the ninth or tenth semester were included into the sample. Students who were partaking in academic mobility or had been away from the university due to medical reasons were excluded. The data were collected by means of an online form, which took into account sociodemographic variables, information concerning academic profile and the scale eHealth Literacy Scale – eHEALS, translated and validated into portuguese. Afterwards, these data went through descriptive analyses, in order to assess the categorical variables frequencies and distributions; posteriorly applying, to them, non-parametric and parametric tests with a five percent statistical significance to verify the associations. This project was approved by an ethics committee that emitted an evaluation whose number is 6.067.883. All the students accepted participating in this study by signing the Clarified and Free Consent Terms. Results: The concluding students scored higher in the eHEALS (35,9 ±4,1) than those who were starting the course (29,6 ± 6,3); the difference between both groups was statistically significant. Higher eHEALS scores were also associated to age group, device distribution and participation in extension projects. The question with the largest difference between the starting and concluding groups was “I have the necessary skills to evaluate resources about health that I find on the internet.” The lowest scoring by both groups stood out in the question “I feel confident in using the information I find on the internet to make decisions about my health”. Conclusions: This study’s participants have a high Digital Health Literacy level. The experiences lived by members of the concluding group throughout the nursing course as a whole might have contributed to higher eHEALS scores, particularly when one observes the acquisition of skills to evaluate resources relating to health that these students find on the internet. More investigations into this theme are suggested, so that the knowledge about it may be deepened. Special attention should be directed to other dimensions that make digital health and its competences up, as well as its incorporation into the curriculum matrices of nursing courses. ...
