Memorial dos direitos humanos do Mercosul : o caso do museu desaparecido político

Abstract

O Memorial dos Direitos Humanos do Mercosul surgiu em um contexto de aparente expansão democrática no Brasil, e teve uma existência breve, sendo encerrado um ano após sua abertura, sem deixar vestígios evidentes de sua passagem. O seu fechamento ocorreu durante uma mudança de governo estadual, marcada por uma eleição acirrada entre candidatos de partidos historicamente opostos, com visões políticas divergentes sobre direitos humanos. Ao abordar a temática dos direitos humanos na Museologia, campo relativamente novo e associado à museologia curativa ou de enfrentamento, esta pesquisa busca responder: o Memorial dos Direitos Humanos do Mercosul foi de fato implementado ou permaneceu apenas como um plano? Se existiu, quais foram as razões e dinâmicas que levaram ao seu desaparecimento e quais forças políticas influenciaram esse processo? A pesquisa explora a história do Memorial, investigando o contexto de sua criação, sua concepção museológica, a formação de seu acervo, suas exposições e o contexto político de seu desaparecimento.

The Mercosur Human Rights Memorial emerged in a context of apparent democratic expansion in Brazil, and had a brief existence, being closed one year after its opening, leaving no evident traces of its existence. The closure of the Mercosur Human Rights Memorial occurred during a change in state government, marked by a heated election between candidates from historically opposing parties, with divergent political views on human rights. By addressing the issue of human rights in Museology, a relatively new field associated with curative or confrontational museology, this research seeks to answer: was the Mercosur Human Rights Memorial actually implemented or did it remain merely a plan? If it existed, what were the reasons and dynamics that led to its disappearance and what political forces influenced this process? The research explores the history of the Memorial, investigating the context of its creation, its museological conception, the formation of its collection, its exhibitions and the political context of its disappearance.
