Análise das influências dos trabalhos iniciais de Basil Bernstein na prática educacional nos Estados Unidos e a repercussão destas idéias no Brasil. Aponta para as críticas do programa de Educação Compensatória feita por autores norte-americanos nos últimos anos e o posicionamento que Bernstein assumiu quanto a estas questões.

This paper analizes the influence of the initial work of Basil Bernstein in the educational Jetting of the USA and the impact of these ideas in Brazil. lt points to the criticism that has been done by Amencan authors to the Compensatory Education Programs in the last few years and the position that Bernstein has taken regarding these matters.
