Material educativo impresso : influência na adesão ao tratamento

Abstract

Um dos maiores problemas da área da saúde na atualidade é a não adesão ao tratamento por parte dos pacientes. Vários estudos demonstram que a prevalência de não cumprimento de prescrições varia de 20 a 90%. As principais metodologias empregadas para reverter a não adesão dividem-se em três métodos básicos de educação de pacientes: orientação verbal, material educativo e a combinação de orientação verbal com material educativo, sendo o último considerado mais efetivo. O material educativo pode apresentar-se de várias maneiras, sendo a forma impressa a que mais se adequa a nossa realidade. Verificou-se que a construção destes deve atender alguns princípios básicos: ter exatidão científica, possuir conteúdo e tom imparcial, ser suficientemente específico e compreensivo, ser inteligível e de formato legível, ser oportuno e atualizado e ser útil para habilitar o paciente ao uso correto de seus medicamentos. Após a confecção do Material Educativo Impresso, o mesmo deve ser validado, procurando responder a critérios específicos.

Nowadays, one of the major problems in public health is the adherence to medical regimens for the patients. A number of studies reported that 20-90 percent of the patients do not use medicines as prescribed. The current approaches used to modify this situation are verbal counseling, education materiais or their combination. The latter is more effective. Education materiais can be showin in a number of ways, but the printed form is the best for the Brazilian reality. These writing materiais must: be scientifically accurate, unbiased in content and tone, sufficiently specific and comprehensive, in an understandable and legible format, timely and up-to-date, and contain useful information enabling the patient to use the medicine appropriately. After writing the printed education material it is needy to verify the suitability of health instructions with the population who will use them.
