Carlos Heitor Cony e Rodolfo Walsh : jornalismo e literatura em tempos de ditadura

Abstract

A proposta deste trabalho é analisar textos jornalísticos e literários do brasileiro Carlos Heitor Cony e do argentino Rodolfo Walsh, dois intelectuais latino-americanos que fizeram das palavras seu trabalho e sua luta. Os momentos históricos analisados são os períodos ditatoriais do Brasil, de 1964 a 1985, e da Argentina, de 1955 a 1958, a chamada Revolución Libertadora, de 1966 a 1973 e de 1976 a 1983. Essa escolha foi baseada na atuação de ambos os autores em 1964 e 1956 com seus livros, O Ato e o Fato, de Cony, e Operación Masacre, de Walsh, que marcam uma mudança de postura desses escritores com relação à importância política da literatura. Neles os autores assumiram um compromisso político diante da ditadura. Em um contexto em que desponta a figura do intelectual engajado na América Latina, ambos são pioneiros na denúncia contra os graves crimes cometidos por seus governos. Utilizaram, ao longo de suas vidas, o jornalismo e a literatura para defender as ideias nas quais acreditavam, como justiça e liberdade de pensamento. Eles viveram durante períodos de ditadura militar em seus países e expuseram opiniões e crimes cometidos. Importa compreender o papel intelectual que desempenharam e a importância que deram a si e a outros intelectuais durante períodos ditatoriais a partir de estudiosos como Claudia Gilman, Carlos Altamirano e Gonzalo Aguiar, que, entre outros, analisam a figura do intelectual latino-americano e sua importância política e literária. O intuito é examinar, nos textos, o tipo de intelectual que ambos construíram e qual posicionamento cobravam publicamente de seus pares. A partir da problematização entre jornalismo e literatura, examina-se como expressaram as tensões derivadas das práticas políticas vivenciadas em seus respectivos contextos históricos.

The purpose of this paper is to analyze journalistic and literary texts by the Brazilian Carlos Heitor Cony and the Argentine Rodolfo Walsh, two Latin American intellectuals who made words their work and their struggle. The historical moments analyzed are the dictatorial periods of Brazil, from 1964 to 1985, and Argentina, from 1955 to 1958, the so-called Revolución Libertadora, from 1966 to 1973 and from 1976 to 1983. This choice was based on the performance of both authors in 1964 and 1956 with their books, O Ato e o Fato, by Cony, and Operación Masacre, by Walsh, which mark a change in the posture of these writers regarding the political importance of literature. In them, the authors assumed a political commitment in the face of the dictatorship. In a context in which the figure of the engaged intellectual emerged in Latin America, both were pioneers in denouncing the serious crimes committed by their governments. Throughout their lives, they used journalism and literature to defend the ideas they believed in, such as justice and freedom of thought. They lived during periods of military dictatorship in their countries and exposed opinions and crimes committed. It is important to understand the intellectual role they played and the importance they gave to themselves and other intellectuals during dictatorial periods from scholars such as Claudia Gilman, Carlos Altamirano and Gonzalo Aguiar, who, among others, analyze the figure of the Latin American intellectual and their political and literary importance. The aim is to examine, in the texts, the type of intellectual they both built and what position they publicly demanded from their peers. From the problematization between journalism and literature, it is examined how they expressed the tensions derived from the political practices experienced in their respective historical contexts.
