Resolução de problemas matemáticos por alunos de 5° ano do ensino fundamental : um relato de experiência

Abstract

Este estudo investiga o uso da heurística de Polya na resolução de problemas matemáticos com estudantes do 5º ano que se preparam para ingressar no Colégio Militar de Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul, via curso realizado em instituição civil preparatória. O objetivo do estudo foi obter indícios das estratégias utilizadas pelos estudantes na resolução de problemas matemáticos antes e após conhecerem essa heurística. O trabalho de campo foi realizado com sete estudantes, idades variando entre dez e onze anos, e cursando o 5º ano do ensino fundamental em diferentes instituições de ensino. De caráter qualitativo, o estudo envolveu a proposição de problemas matemáticos versando sobre conteúdos previstos para a prova de ingresso no Colégio Militar e a apresentação e discussão sobre a heurística de Polya. Os registros das soluções apresentadas pelos estudantes e anotações da pesquisadora em diário de campo permitiram identificar mudanças de estratégias utilizadas pelos participantes da pesquisas para resolver problemas matemáticos com indícios de organização e autonomia ao utilizarem as etapas da proposta de Polya.

This study investigates the use of Polya's heuristic in solving math problems with 5th year students who are preparing to enter the Colégio Militar in Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul, with course held at a civil preparatory institution. The objective of the study was to obtain evidence of the strategies used by students in solving math problems before and after learning about this heuristic. Field work was carried out with seven students, ages ranging from ten to eleven years old, and attending the 5th year of elementary school in different educational institutions. Of a qualitative nature, the study involved the proposition of math problems dealing with the contents foreseen for the entrance exam in the Colégio Militar and the presentation and discussion about Polya's heuristic. The records of the solutions presented by the students and the researcher's notes in the field diary allowed identifying changes in the strategies used by the research participants to solve math problems with evidence of organization and autonomy when using the stages of Polya's proposal.
