As expressões do antijudaísmo em Colônia entre os séculos XIII e XV : um estudo das crônicas e das determinações do conselho da cidade (Ratsbeschlüsse)

Abstract

O trabalho desenvolvido utiliza-se de um recorte temático e geográfico pouco explorado nos estudos históricos no Brasil, que é a questão judaica na Idade Média germânica. Assim, estuda-se o sentimento hostil em relação aos judeus em um dos centros urbanos mais importantes do Sacro Império Româno-Germânico, Colônia, a partir de diferentes fontes oriundas dessa cidade. A metodologia aplicada consiste no intenso estudo dos documentos selecionados, que são as Crônicas e as Determinações do Conselho da cidade de Colônia. Dessa forma, a observação de diferentes tipos de fonte possibilita uma análise mais rica do tema, cotejando o estabelecimento de relações entre elas. Temáticas antijudaicas são comuns em diversas fontes e obras da Idade Média Tardia, principalmente apresentando os judeus degradados, empobrecidos e culpabilizados por problemas como aumento de impostos e doenças, além da difusão de lendas e de estigmas em relação a sua cultura. Esta dissertação indaga sobre o antijudaísmo e como ele se expressa em Colônia numa tentativa de localizar esse sentimento como generalizado no contexto da Europa Ocidental medieval.

This dissertation uses a thematic and geographic approach to a topic rarely explored in historical studies in Brazil: Jewish presence in the German Middle Ages. This work examines the hostile feelings towards Jews in one of the most important urban centers of the Holy Roman Empire, Cologne, using different sources originally from the city. The applied methodology consists of an arduous study of the source base, which are the Chronicles of Cologne and the annals of the City Council. The examination of different types of sources allows a richer analysis, establishing relationships between the two kinds of documents. Anti-Jewish themes are common in several sources and documents of the Late Middle Ages, mainly presenting the Jews as degraded and impoverished, blaming them for problems such as increases in taxes and diseases, in addition to the spread of legends and stigmas regarding Jewish culture. This dissertation considers AntiJudaism and how it is expressed in Cologne to locate this feeling as widespread in the context of medieval Western Europe.

Die entwickelte Arbeit verwendet einen thematischen und geografischen Schnitt, der in historischen Studien in Brasilien wenig erforscht wird. Dies ist die Situation von Juden im deutschen Mittelalter. Die Untersuchung handelt von bedrohlichen Gefühlen gegen Juden in einem der wichtigsten städtischen Zentren des Heiligen Römischen Reiches, Köln, erforscht aus verschiedenen Quellen dieser Stadt. Die benutzten Methoden fassen die mühsame Forschung der ausgewählten Dokumente, die aus den Chroniken von Köln und den Beschlüssen des Rates bestehen, zusammen. Die Betrachtung von verschiedenen Quellsorten ermöglicht eine umfassendere Analyse des Themas und die Verknüpfung von Reflexionen zwischen ihnen. Antijüdische Themen sind in mehreren Quellen und Werken des Spätmittelalters verbreitet. Sie berichten hauptsächlich über miderwertige und verarmten Juden, denen Probleme wie erhöhte Steuern und Krankheiten sowie die Verbreitung von Legenden und Stigmen in Bezug auf ihre Kultur vorgeworfen wird. Diese Arbeit beschäftigt sich dem dem Antijudaismus in Köln und zeigt dieses weit verbreitete Gefühl im Kontext des mittelalterlichen Westeropas.
