dc.description.abstract | Este trabalho visa compreender o sistema formal que estrutura o filme Mother! , do diretor Darren Aronofsky. | pt_BR |
dc.description.abstract | This paper aims to understand the formal system that structures the film Mother! , by director Darren Aronofsky. Therefore, a methodology was developed to make a survey of the most recurrent visual and thematic marks in Aronofsky's cinematic repertoire, culminating in the analysis of his latest film. As basis for the discussion, we used the conceptions of filmic form developed by the authors Bordwell and Thompson, as seen in the book Art in Cinema: an introduction (2013) . To assist in the construction of this present work, other authors were also consulted, as well as the original screenplay of the feature. The analysis was made by applying the five principles of filmic form: function, similarity / repetition, difference / variation and unity. At the end of this research, it was possible to better understand how the filmic form that the director developed in mother! collaborates with the construction of an audacious work, full of hidden meanings. The megalomania of metaphor, to which the title of the paper refers, consists of the director's intention to symbolically narrate human history from a biblical perspective (from the dawn of the earth to the apocalypse) using limited resources such as few characters and a single shooting location. | en |
