Lã crua, fios da memória : mulher, artesanato e patrimônio cultural do Rio Grande do Sul

Abstract

Este trabalho foi realizado com a finalidade de reunir subsídios que permitam que se interpretem quais são as relações que se estabelecem no processo do saber-fazer tradicional e de referência cultural do artesanato com lã crua produzido pelas artesãs do Rio Grande do Sul. A sua justificativa refere-se ao espaço de protagonismo, valorização social e cultural e atividade econômica importante para a vida da mulher que o artesanato assumiu, e sua importância como elemento do patrimônio cultural gaúcho. Os seus objetivos foram compreender como ocorre a inserção do saberfazer da lã crua nos artefatos produzidos por mulheres no processo de constituição do patrimônio cultural gaúcho; identificar as relações sociais, afetivas e de memória que são construídas em torno do artesanato com lã natural; e analisar o papel dessa produção na construção da identidade cultural das mulheres do meio rural gaúcho. As questões de pesquisa buscaram compreender qual é a contribuição desses artefatos produzidos pela mulher gaúcha como representação do patrimônio cultural do Rio Grande do Sul e quais são as relações que se estabelecem entre as artesãs, na perspectiva do protagonismo e valorização social, cultural e econômica da mulher no Estado. A fundamentação teórica incluiu análise da literatura sobre patrimônio cultural e sua dimensão política e sobre o artesanato como referência cultural, integrados a uma imersão histórica na gênese da mulher gaúcha para consolidação do Território da Lã como conquista feminina. Sob a abordagem de pesquisa qualitativa, foi constituída uma cartografia do saber-fazer da lã no Rio Grande do Sul por meio de dezoito entrevistas com artesãs. Para fundamentá-la, foi feita uma pesquisa bibliográfica para identificação, elucidação e entrelaçamento dos conceitos, acompanhada da análise documental dos dados coletados anteriormente pela pesquisadora, como também em bases de dados, dissertações e teses, artigos e matérias de jornais, entrevistas transcritas e imagens capturadas no trabalho de campo. A análise dos dados permitiu a conclusão que o saber-fazer da lã de ovelha, no contexto das lidas campeiras, demonstra forte presença do patriarcado e de subjugação da mulher ao homem rural, seja na figura paterna seja do marido. Mesmo entre as mulheres persiste a visão de que o poder masculino é mais forte do que a sua condição feminina. E o artesanato, para elas, é ainda considerado como um labor intrínseco à mulher para manter sua sobrevivência cotidiana.

This work was carried out with the purpose of assembling subsidies that allow to be interpreted what are the relations that are established in the process of the traditional know-how and of cultural reference of the handicraft with raw wool produced by the women artisans of Rio Grande do Sul. Justification refers to the space of protagonism, social and cultural valorization and important economic activity for the life of the woman that the handicraft assumed, and its importance as an element of the gaucho cultural patrimony. Its objectives were to understand how the insertion of craft knowledge of sheep wool takes place in the artifacts produced by women in the process of constitution of the gaúcho cultural patrimony; to identify the social, affective and memory relations that are built around the handicraft with natural wool; and to analyze the role of this production in the construction of the cultural identity of the rural women in Rio Grande do Sul. The research questions sought to understand the contribution of these artefacts produced by the women of Rio Grande do Sul as a representation of the cultural heritage of Rio Grande do Sul and what are the relationships that are established among the artisans, in the perspective of the protagonism and social, cultural and economic woman in the state. The theoretical basis included an analysis of the literature on cultural heritage and its political dimension and on handicraft as a cultural reference, integrated into a historical immersion in the genesis of the gaúcha women, for the consolidation of the Wool Territory as a feminist conquest. Under a qualitative research approach, a mapping of the craft knowledge of sheep wool was made in Rio Grande do Sul, through eighteen interviews with artisans. To substantiate this, a bibliographic research was carried out to identify, elucidate and interweave the concepts, accompanied by a documentary analysis of the data previously collected by the researcher, as well as databases, theses and dissertations, articles and newspaper articles, transcribed interviews and captured in the field work. The analysis of the data allowed the conclusion that the craft knowledge of sheep wool, in the context of the former champions, shows a strong presence of patriarchy and the subjugation of women to the rural man, whether in the father figure or the husband. Even among women there persists the view that male power is stronger than their female condition. And crafts, for them, is still considered as an intrinsic labor for women to maintain their daily survival.
