Museu Camille Claudel : um novo espaço para um velho modo de existir

Abstract

Com a presente dissertação, debato a fundação do Museu Camille Claudel, inaugurado em 2017, em Nogent-sur-Seine, França, analisando para isso suas estratégias fundadoras em termos culturais e turísticos, assim como iniciativas semelhantes de dedicar um museu ou uma cidade inteira à devoção de um só artista. Para tanto, ofereço um histórico da condição das artistas mulheres à época de Camille Claudel e reconstituo a trajetória da artista do ponto de vista institucional, sua formação, a recepção crítica a seus trabalhos e sua relação com o mercado. Proponho-me a responder se o Museu Camille Claudel cumpre a expectativa que suscita, na qualidade de único museu francês dedicado a uma artista mulher e, em especial, por se tratar de uma artista que sofreu com os esforços por seu apagamento, mas cuja importância como criadora tem sido redimensionada.

With this dissertation, I discuss the founding of the Camille Claudel Museum, inaugurated in 2017 in Nogent-sur-Seine, analyzing for this its founding strategies in cultural and tourist terms, as well as similar initiatives to dedicate a museum or a whole city the devotion to a single artist. To that end, I offer a history of the condition of women artists in the time of Camille Claudel and reconstitute the trajectory of the artist from an institutional point of view, its formation, the critical reception of its work and its relationship with the market. I propose to answer if the Camille Claudel Museum fulfills the expectation that it arouses, as the only French museum dedicated to a female artist, and especially because it is an artist who suffered with the efforts to erase it, but whose importance as creative has been resized.
