Sob o Königsberg : paisagem e patrimônio cultural da antiga Colônia Alemã de São Leopoldo

Abstract

Esta dissertação aborda a interação entre os conceitos de paisagem e de patrimônio cultural, construindo uma leitura de paisagem cultural aplicável para o território da antiga Colônia Alemã de São Leopoldo, no Rio Grande do Sul. O percurso de investigação busca a raiz das noções de patrimônio cultural e de paisagem, reconstruindo a trajetória histórica destes conceitos e de sua interação. Sustenta-se que o conceito de patrimônio cultural enfrenta uma recente mudança de paradigmas, em que o foco de interesse é deslocado dos objetos patrimoniais para os sujeitos (sociedade), evidenciando que o patrimônio cultural é construído socialmente. Busca-se construir, a partir da investigação teórica, um enfoque que possa auxiliar na identificação e interpretação do patrimônio e da paisagem da antiga Colônia com ênfase nos valores simbólicos e nas relações territoriais. Adota-se, por fim, um olhar de paisagem cultural sobre o território estudado, com foco no aspecto de temporalidade, com a construção de narrativas a partir de três grandes eixos temáticos. O estudo empreendido reconstitui o sentido de temporalidade da paisagem, estabelecendo laços de significados a partir das narrativas e elucidando os valores simbólicos compartilhados de alguns dos bens culturais do território da antiga Colônia Alemã de São Leopoldo. Valoriza-se a compreensão deste processo temporal em que a sociedade se relaciona com o passado e com o território, constituindo paisagens e construindo seu patrimônio cultural.

This dissertation discusses the interaction between the concepts of landscape and cultural heritage, elaborating a reading of cultural landscape applicable to the territory of the former German colony of São Leopoldo, in Rio Grande do Sul. The research path seeks the root of the notions of cultural and landscape heritage, Reconstructing the historical trajectory of these concepts and their mutual interaction. It is argued that the concept of cultural heritage currently passes through a renewal of paradigms, in which the focus of interest is shifted from the heritage objects to the subjects (society), evidencing that the cultural heritage is socially constructed. From the theoretical research, an approach is proposed to assist in the identification and interpretation of the heritage and landscape of the Old German Colony, emphasizing symbolic values and territorial relations. Finally, we adopt a cultural landscape look over the studied territory, seeking to contemplate a holistic and integrative approach, contemplating the role of landscape mediance and trajectivity. It also focuses on the aspect of temporality, proposing narratives consisting by primary and secondary sources, based on three major thematic axes. This study reconstitutes the sense of temporality of the landscape, establishing ties of meaning with the narratives and elucidating the shared symbolic values of the cultural heritage from former German Colony of São Leopoldo. The understanding of this temporal process in which society relates to the past and the territory is valued, constituting landscapes and building its cultural heritage.
