A Bacia do Acre está situada na parte ocidental do Brasil, e constitui a parte norte do Estado do Acre e a sudoeste do Estado do Amazonas. A unidade topo desta bacia é a Formação Solimões, cujos sedimentos, formados por siltitos e argilitos, afloram na área do alto rio Solimões. Seu rico conteúdo fossilífero inclui plantas, moluscos, peixes, tartarugas, crocodilos, aves e mamíferos. A Bacia do Acre está situada na parte ocidental do Brasil, e constitui a parte norte do Estado do Acre e a sudoeste do Estado do Amazonas. A unidade topo desta bacia é a Formação Solimões, cujos sedimentos, formados por siltitos e argilitos, afloram na área do alto rio Solimões. Seu rico conteúdo fossilífero inclui plantas, moluscos, peixes, tartarugas, crocodilos, aves e mamíferos. Estudos paleontológicos e geológicos datam a deposição da Formação Solimões no Mioceno tardio (9 a 6,5 milhões de anos) num ambiente continental dominado por canais de alta energia e planície de inundação. O material fóssil aqui descrito foi todo coletado em trabalhos de campo realizados em afloramentos da Formação Solimões nos estados do Acre e Amazonas. O material está constituído por 177 espinhos peitorais fósseis de Siluriformes em bom estado de preservação, porém na maioria incompletos. Dentre os espinhos estudados, foram reconhecidos 12 morfotipos os quais foram atribuídos a diferentes clados dentro de Siluriformes: Doradoidea, Doradidae, Callichthyidae, Loricariidae, Pimelodidae e cf. Auchenipteridae. Este estudo ampliou o registro de famílias de Siluriformes para a Formação Solimões, já que apenas as famílias Pimelodidae e Callichthyidae haviam sido registradas para esta formação. ...
