Torreão, lugar de rastros

Abstract

Esta pesquisa concentra-se na memória do Torreão, um lugar que efetuou de 1993 a 2009 um cruzamento entre produção e reflexão em arte na cidade de Porto Alegre. Ele parte da vontade de dois artistas e professores, Elida Tessler e Jailton Moreira, de inventarem um lugar à sua medida. Agrega, em sua trajetória, alunos, artistas convidados e visitantes num processo contínuo de experimentação do pensar e do fazer arte contemporânea. A proposta da pesquisa é pensar o Torreão em seu potencial gerador de acontecimentos, enquanto lugar que possibilita a criação de novos espaços-tempos para aqueles que por lá passaram. Explora-se, para isso, o cruzamento entre dois arquivos: um arquivo atual de narrativas de alunos e visitantes, formulado durante a pesquisa, e o arquivo de registros produzidos durante a trajetória do espaço. Alguns dos temas trazidos pela tese são a arte como construção de lugar, as intervenções de artistas na torre da casa e o processo de ensino da arte lá praticado. Os rastros deixados pelas vivências na casa permitem, por fim, afirmar a presença atual do Torreão e levam a perceber suas ressonâncias no hoje enquanto pensamento ligado à invenção.

This research revolves around the memory of Torreão, a place that bolstered the intersection between production and reflection in the arts in Porto Alegre from 1993 to 2009. Torreão was born out of the will of two artists and teachers, Elida Tessler and Jailton Moreira, to create a place at their whim. In its trajectory, it aggregates students, and guest artists and visitors in a continuous process of experimentation in contemporary thinking and practices. The proposition of this research is to think of Torreão as a potential initiator of events, as a place that favors the creation of new space-time experiences for those who came over there. Thus the intersection of two archives is explored: a current archive of narratives of students and visitors, which was formulated during this research, and the archive of produced registers throughout the trajectory of the venue. Some of the themes scrutinized in this dissertation include art as construction of places, the intervention of artists in the tower of Torreão’s building, and the processes of teaching art that were practiced there. The traces that have been left by the experiences lived in the house vouch for the current presence of Torreão after all, and lead to the perception of their resonances today as a thought linked to invention.
