O espelho de Ojesed : representações do feminino na obra Harry Potter

Abstract

Este Trabalho de Conclusão de Curso pretende investigar e analisar as representações de gênero na obra Harry Potter a partir de quatro personagens femininas, sendo duas heroínas (Hermione Granger e Molly Weasley) e duas vilãs (Belatriz Lestrange e Dolores Umbridge). Para tanto, conta com os aportes teóricos-metodológicos do campo dos Estudos Culturais com ênfase aos estudos de gênero e de literatura, utilizando o conceito de representação. Sendo a Literatura Infantil e Juvenil importante meio de identificação e inspiração para leitores e leitoras, esta se torna valioso artefato cultural para discutir as problematizações de gênero e refletir sobre a urgência do protagonismo feminino nessa área. Assim, o trabalho divide-se em: parte introdutória, incluindo motivação e objetivos; apresentação dos conceitos teórico-metodológicos que dão suporte à pesquisa; análise sócio-histórica sobre a presença da figura da bruxa na Literatura Infatil e Juvenil; análise das personagens selecionadas; conclusão com considerações a respeito das representações femininas da obra em questão. Foi possível identificar características de exceção na obra analisada quanto à representações do feminino e relações de gênero na Literatura Infantojuvenil.

This essay intends to investigate and analyze gender representation in the Harry Potter novels, especially regarding four female characters, two heroines (Hermione Granger and Molly Weasley) and two villains (Bellatrix Lestrange and Dolores Umbridge). To accomplish that, the paper brings theoretical and methodological approaches from the field of Cultural Studies, with special emphasis on gender and literature studies, from the perspective of the concept of representation. Considering the infantile and juvenile literature as an important instrument for identification and inspiration for the readers, it becomes a valuable cultural artifact to discuss gender problematization and to reflect about the urgency for female protagonists in this field. The paper is organized in the following way: introduction, including motivation and objectives; presentation of the theoretical and methodological concepts supporting the research; a socio-historical analysis concerning the figure of the witch and its presence in the infantile and juvenile literature; analysis of the selected characters; conclusion and considerations regarding the feminine representations in the books. Furthermore, some unique features relating to representations of the feminine and gender relations in the infant-juvenile literature could be identified in the novels.
