No rastro de Walter Benjamin : a contribuição do romance policial para o conceito de Spur

Abstract

Este trabalho busca analisar a relação entre a categoria do “rastro” (Spur) e o gênero policial na obra de Walter Benjamin. Primeiramente, analisaremos as ocasiões em que Walter Benjamin se refere ao romance policial ao longo da sua obra. Procuramos com isso compreender melhor como este gênero se articula com a categoria de “rastro” (relação, admitida por Benjamin em carta a Theodor Adorno), categoria importante na obra benjaminiana. O trabalho consistiu na recolha dos momentos nos quais Benjamin se refere ao romance policial em seus ensaios e livros, direta ou indiretamente e, a partir desse material, na análise destes comentários. Buscou-se, nessa etapa, entender a relação do romance policial com os objetivos teóricos de Benjamin. Em seguida, tentamos compreender como a categoria de “rastro” se desenvolveu e se operacionalizou. Deste processo, concluímos que há uma relação entre a figura do detetive e a figura do historiador benjaminiano. Com base nisto, a segunda parte do trabalho consistiu na análise dos movimentos do “eu narrador” e do “eu narrado” do fragmento “Acidentes e crimes” de Infância berlinense: 1900. Buscamos averiguar estes “eus” enquanto detetives/historiadores. O resultado foi a delimitação de várias características do detetive/historiador de Infância berlinense relacionadas com a influência da narrativa policial sobre a categoria de “Spur”: o interesse por restos em uma modernidade onde encontrá-los torna-se cada vez mais difícil; a proximidade da categoria de “aura” com a de “Spur”, e com a aproximação de Spur da dimensão estética; a relação de complementariedade de Infância berlinense com a investigação de Benjamin da metrópole e das teses Sobre o conceito de história com Infância berlinense; o ponto de vista adotado no processo de leitura do passado e da História precisa possuir negatividade para que Spur se torne chave de conhecimento.

This work aims to analyze the relation between the concept of “trace” (Spur) and the detective novel in Walter Benjamin’s work. Primarily, we analyze the occasions on which Walter Benjamin refers to the detective novel throughout his work. From this, we seek better understand how this gender articulates with the category of "trace" (relationship admitted by Benjamin in a letter to Theodor Adorno), an important category in Benjamin's work. The work consisted of the collection of moments in which Benjamin refers to the detective novel in his essays and books, directly or indirectly and, from this material, in the analysis of these comments. We sought, at this stage, to understand the relationship of the detective novel with the theoretical goals of Benjamin. Then, we try to understand how the category of “trace” has developed and operationalized. From this process, we conclude that there is a relationship between the figure of the detective and the figure of Benjamin's historian. Based on this, the second part of the work consisted in the analysis of the motions of the self who remember and the self who is remembered of the fragment “Accidents and crimes” of Infância Berlinense: 1900. We seek to investigate these “selves” as detectives/historians. The result was the delineation of various characteristics of the detective/historian of Infância Berlinense: 1900 related to the influence of the detective narrative in the category of “Spur”: the interest in traces in a modernity in which to find these traces becomes increasingly difficult; the proximity of the category of “aura” with the category of “Spur” and the proximity of “Spur” of the aesthetic dimension; the relation of complementarity of Infância Berlinense: 1900 to the investigation of the metropolis and of the Benjamin’s thesis “Sobre o Conceito de História” to Infância Berlinense: 1900; the point of view adopted in the reading of the past and of the History need to get negativity so that the concept of “Spur” will become a key of knowledge.
