Abstract in Portuguese (Brasil)

Panoramic radiography is one of image modalities the most requested by the dentist. This technique, benefits and limitations are consolidated in clinical practice through numerous studies, over the years. Diagnostic imaging changed significantly with the advent of cone beam computed tomography (CBCT), as this modalitie provides the visualization of structures without any overlap in the image. It also allwos reconstructions in the axial, coronal and sagittal planes, as well as panoramic and reconstruction in three dimensions, substantially assisting in the dental treatment. The objective of this study is to conduct a literature review of these imaging modalities, in particular comparing the panoramic radiograph with panoramic reconstruction by CBCT. ...
