Este trabalho apresenta, de maneira geral, uma releitura histórica dos principais acontecimentos econômicos e políticos do Brasil dentre os anos de 1930 a 1980. Este recorte cronológico busca evidenciar as profundas transformações pelas quais passou a sociedade brasileira neste período, quando a concepção e execução de políticas econômicas, governo após governo, foram essencialmente voltadas ao desenvolvimento econômico do país, sendo comumente denominado desenvolvimentismo. Os caminhos escolhidos ao longo do percurso modificaram a própria maneira como Estado e economia se relacionaram.
