As estatísticas de mortalidade são importantes fontes de informação disponíveis sobre a saúde de uma população, as quais são produzidas através da utilização das declarações de óbito e têm tido relevante importância para avaliação no planejamento de serviços de saúde e pesquisa, desigualdades sociais, tendências temporais e diferenças regionais e ocupacionais. O objetivo deste trabalho foi analisar os dados sobre mortalidade no Rio Grande do Sul, no ano de 2010, disponibilizados pelo DATASUS no Sistema de Informações de Mortalidade, os quais foram utilizados para estabelecer taxas de magnitude, transcendência, vulnerabilidade e índice sumarizado de mortalidade aplicado ao Rio Grande do Sul. As neoplasias malignas se mostram evidentes e com alto índice de causas de mortalidade se destacando em primeiro lugar na taxa de magnitude, transcendência e índice sumarizado, já a maior taxa de vulnerabilidade foi as doenças infecciosas redutíveis por saneamento contra vetores e outras medidas, demonstrando a necessidade de ocorrer um melhor investimento em saneamento básico. ...
