Sistema bancário e o crescimento econômico : um estudo aplicado à Alemanha, Brasil e Estados Unidos

Abstract

O presente trabalho se propõe a estudar a relação entre um sistema bancário e o crescimento econômico. Essa relação foi levantada pela primeira vez por Schumpeter (1911), sendo, posteriormente, alvo de estudo de outros autores. Para compreender essa relação, é relevante estudar inicialmente as funções básicas de um banco, a fim de entender a maneira pela qual eles influenciam a economia. Especificamente, os sistemas a serem estudados serão os Sistemas Bancários da Alemanha, do Brasil e dos EUA. Após descrever as estruturas dos respectivos sistemas e sua situação atual, é proposto estimar através da Regressão do Crescimento se essa causalidade é verdadeira.

The present study attempts to explore the relation between a banking system and economic growth. This relation was created by Schumpeter (1911), and was studied by other authors since then. To understand this relation, it is relevant to study first the basic functions of a bank, in order to understand how it influences the economy. Specifically, the systems studied here are the German, the Brazilian and the American banking systems. After describing the structures of the respective systems and their current status, we estimate if the causality is true using a Growth Regression.
