The present work adresses storytelling in the classroom as a possible originator of learning, as well as a form of learning itself. The storytelling allows the interaction between teller and hearer, since telling a story is an act that depends on the relation between interlocutors. When all involved in storytelling let their imagination be guided by the stories, the act of creation is stabilished; it's created as a form of rite, because there is the sharing of experiences, their living and reliving and a temporary communion of minds who want to take part in the same process which transports to another place and another time. The storytelling completes itself when the public and the teller are affected/permeated by it; when both moments coincide there's an unique meeting, which is a condition for every learning process and fundamental to make it significant. To show this the work starts from the analysis of a semi-structured questionnaire applied to teachers in public education under the theoretical orientation of Bruno Bethelhein (2007) to address the therapeutic possibility of storytelling, of Maria de Lourdes Patrini (2005) to address the profession of the storyteller and of Nelly Novaes Coelho (2008) addressing the evolution of stories and storytelling.en
