O processo de impressão offset é o processo mais importante industrialmente para impressão em papel e cartão. O processo de impressão offset é o processo mais importante industrialmente para impressão em papel e cartão. Fatores como deposição de filmes finos de tinta a altas velocidades, reologia complexa das tintas utilizadas, necessidade de balanço adequado entre os diferentes tipos de força envolvidas e elevada gama de matérias-primas existentes no mercado tornam complexas as atividades relacionadas à adequação das condições de processo em decorrência de alterações de matéria-prima ou da produção. Por este motivo, é de grande interesse prático o entendimento dos fenômenos associados ao transporte e à transferência da tinta e de como estes fenômenos afetam a qualidade do produto impresso. Inserido neste contexto, o presente trabalho tem por objetivo disponibilizar informações que possam ser úteis para, em uma etapa futura, desenvolver um simulador para o processo de impressão. Primeiramente são discutidos os principais aspectos considerados na literatura para modelagem do processo, identificando-se a zona de separação do nip de impressão como o ponto mais importante em termos de modelagem, apresentando-se os aspectos mais importantes descritos por diferentes autores para a modelagem adequada desta região. Posteriormente, faz-se uma análise da adequação de um conjunto de equações constitutivas viscoplásticas e pseudoplásticas na representação de das curvas de escoamento de 19 tintas que cobrem uma gama de composições representativa das tintas disponíveis no mercado para este tipo de aplicação. O modelo de Herschel-Bulkley foi aquele que apresentou melhor adequação entre os quatro modelos testados. analisou-se o potencial de utilização dos solvers interDyMFoam e icoDyMFoam, disponíveis no pacote OpenFoam, como plataforma para implementação de um simulador para o processo de impressão offset. Conclui-se que nos dois casos deveriam ser efetuadas modificações no código original dos solvers a fim de adaptá-los às necessidades inerentes à modelagem do processo em estudo. ...
