O uso de drogas com efeito indutor do ganho de peso afeta a perda ponderal de pacientes obesos?

RESULTADOS PRELIMINARES: Cinquenta e dois pacientes retornaram ao ambulatório 6 ± 3 meses após a orientação da dieta, e destes, 32 pacientes (61,5%) fizeram uso de alguma medicação pró-obesidade durante o período. RESULTADOS PRELIMINARES: Cinquenta e dois pacientes retornaram ao ambulatório 6 ± 3 meses após a orientação da dieta, e destes, 32 pacientes (61,5%) fizeram uso de alguma medicação pró-obesidade durante o período. As drogas pró-obesidade mais frequentemente utilizadas foram os bloqueadores beta-adrenérgicos (34,6%), os antidepressivos (19,2%) e os glicocorticóides (9,6%). Parece haver maior proporção de indivíduos que não conseguiram perder peso após a orientação de dieta naqueles usuários de droga pró-obesidade (50,0%) quando comparados aos não usuários (30,0%), apesar de não atingir a significância estatística desejada (p = 0,156). Maiores proporções de hipertensos (93,8% vs. 55,0%; p = 0,001), de portadores de transtornos psiquiátricos (40,6% vs. 15,0%; p = 0,051) e de usuários de drogas com possível efeito na perda de peso (65,6% vs. 30,0% p = 0,012) foram observadas no grupo de usuários de droga pró-obesidade em relação ao grupo dos não usuários. Não foram observadas diferenças na restrição calórica oferecida e no gasto energético com as atividades físicas entre os dois grupos de pacientes. CONCLUSÃO: Os resultados preliminares mostraram uma maior proporção de pacientes sem perda de peso seis meses após orientação de dieta balanceada no grupo em uso de droga pró-obesidade, apesar do maior uso de drogas com possível efeito na perda de peso concomitante à modificação de estilo de vida entre os mesmos. A obtenção do tamanho amostral adequado (a partir dos dados de insucesso do tratamento, alfa de 5% e poder de 80% = 156 pacientes) permitirá a confirmação e melhor exploração dos achados. ...
