Cinemateca Capitólio de Porto Alegre - RS : dinâmicas entre o cinema de calçada e a cidade

Abstract

Este trabalho busca, antes de mais nada, ser sobre memória, esta aqui representada principalmente pelas marcas deixadas no espaço, através dos cinemas de calçada. Ao longo do tempo, especificamente entre o início e a segunda metade do Século XX, os chamados cinemas de calçada viveram o seu auge e decadência em Porto Alegre, até o momento de seu quase apagamento do espaço urbano. O objetivo deste trabalho é investigar qual a relação entre a trajetória da Cinemateca Capitólio e dos cinemas de calçada com o processo de urbanização de Porto Alegre. Para isso trabalhou-se com o acesso a acervos físicos e digitais, em busca de documentos dos quais contassem a história do Capitólio, dos cinemas de calçada e da urbanização da cidade. Ao se aprofundar na pesquisa, percebeu-se uma forte ligação entre a organização e o planejamento urbano com os cinemas, principalmente entre as décadas de 1910 a 1950, assim como estas mesmas salas acompanharam a deterioração do Centro Histórico, a partir dos anos 60. A pesquisa mostrou também o quanto a mobilização em torno da defesa deste local como patrimônio teve grande influência na existência do Capitólio até os dias de hoje.

This work seeks, first and foremost, to be about memory, which is represented here mainly by the marks left on space by street cinemas. Over time, specifically between the beginning and the second half of the 20th century, the so-called street cinemas experienced their rise and fall in Porto Alegre, until the moment of their near disappearance from the urban space. The objective of this work is to investigate the relationship between the trajectory of the Cinemateca Capitólio and the street cinemas with the urbanization process of Porto Alegre. To this end, we worked with access to physical and digital archives, in search of documents that tell the story of the Capitólio, the street cinemas, and the urbanization of the city. Upon further research, a strong link was observed between urban organization and planning with cinemas, especially between the 1910s and 1950s, as well as how these same theaters accompanied the deterioration of the Historic Center from the 1960s onwards. The research also showed how much the mobilization around the defense of this place as heritage had a great influence on the existence of the Capitólio to this day.
