Características da dor na disfunção temporomandibular : uma revisão de literatura

Abstract

A articulação temporomandibular é uma complexa estrutura do corpo humano que faz parte do sistema estomatognático, permitindo movimentos de abertura bucal, deglutição, fonação, sucção e movimentação facial. Suas patologias, tanto morfológicas quanto funcionais, podem estar relacionadas às más oclusões, estresse emocional, traumas, entre outras causas. Essas patologias, chamadas de Disfunções Temporomandibulares, podem incluir alterações anatômicas e degenerativas. As Disfunções Temporomandibulares podem se manifestar por meio de sintomatologias dolorosas crônicas, como dores na mandíbula, dificuldades para mastigar, estalos ou crepitações ao abrir e fechar a boca, e até mesmo dores de cabeça. O objetivo deste estudo é realizar uma revisão de literatura existente para investigar e analisar as características da dor associada à Disfunção Temporomandibular, fornecendo informações que possam auxiliar os profissionais dessa área na compreensão e no manejo clínico dessas disfunções.

The temporomandibular joint is a complex structure of the human body that is part of the stomatognathic system, allowing movements of mouth opening, swallowing, phonation, sucking and facial movement. Its pathologies, both morphological and functional, may be related to malocclusions, emotional stress, trauma, among other causes. These pathologies, called Temporomandibular Disorders, can include anatomical and degenerative changes. Temporomandibular Disorders can manifest themselves through chronic painful symptoms, such as jaw pain, difficulty chewing, clicking or crackling when opening and closing the mouth, and even headaches. The objective of this study is to carry out a review of existing literature to investigate and analyze the characteristics of pain associated with Temporomandibular Disorders, providing information that can assist professionals in this area in understanding and clinical management of these disorders.
