Biblioteca do laboratório de matemática do Instituto de Educação General Flores da Cunha: estudo dos livros publicados em francês

Abstract

O artigo apresenta os livros publicados em francês da coleção digital “Práticas e saberes matemáticos nas escolas normais do Rio Grande do Sul” composta pelos documentos do acervo do Laboratório de Matemática do Instituto de Educação General Flores da Cunha (LM/IE), constituído entre os anos 1950 e 1990. São apresentados os livros dos autores Caleb Gattegno, Zoltan Paul Dienes, Nicole Picard, Georges Papy e Frédérique Papy, Louis Duvert, René Gauthier e Maurice Glaymann, Suzanne Bray e Lucienne Félix, que são os autores de maior parte dos livros em francês pertencentes à coleção digital. Pelo cotejamento entre os livros e variados documentos do acervo, discute-se a importância desses livros em estudos e cursos promovidos pelo Instituto de Educação, principalmente referentes à modernização do ensino de matemática na formação de professores. As obras de Dienes, autor associado ao Movimento da Matemática Moderna, foram amplamente traduzidas e utilizadas pelas normalistas no Instituto de Educação, assim como os livros de Nicole Picard. O método de “Números em Cores”, bastante difundido por Caleb Gattegno, fora aplicado em aulas no ensino primário, e o Material Cuisenaire deixou marcas na prática pedagógica no Instituto de Educação.

The article presents the books published in French from the digital collection “Mathematical practices and knowledge in the normal schools of Rio Grande do Sul” made up of documents from the collection of the Mathematics Laboratory of the General Flores da Cunha Education Institute (LM/IE), constituted between the 1950s and 1990s. The text focuses on books by authors Caleb Gattegno, Zoltan Paul Dienes, Nicole Picard, Georges Papy and Frédérique Papy and Louis Duvert, René Gauthier and Maurice Glaymann, Suzanne Bray and Lucienne Félix, who are the authors of most of the books in French belonging to digital collection. By comparing the books and various documents in the collection, we discuss the importance of these books in studies and courses promoted by the Institute of Education, mainly regarding the modernization of mathematics teaching in teacher training. The works of Dienes, an author associated with the Modern Mathematics Movement, were widely translated and used by normalists at the Institute of Education, as were the books of Nicole Picard. The “Numbers in Colors” method, widely disseminated by Caleb Gattegno, was applied in classes in primary education, and Material Cuisenaire left its mark on pedagogical practice at the Institute of Education.
