Socialização e trauma : efeitos da pandemia sobre valores e atitudes de jovens de Curitiba

Abstract

O artigo analisa o impacto da pandemia de covid-19 e o contexto político brasileiro nos valores e atitudes dos jovens de Curitiba. A hipótese do estudo é que a pandemia intensificou o fenômeno da alienação política e o descrédito nas instituições entre os jovens, afetando sua confiança no futuro e percepção da política. A metodologia utilizada é quantitativa, por meio do método de pesquisa tipo survey aplicada na cidade de Curitiba/PR em dois momentos distintos: 2016, antes da radicalização política e da pandemia, e em 2022. A análise de dados apresenta a percepção dos jovens em relação à pandemia, buscando analisar as divergências entre eles quanto aos efeitos da covid-19 em suas vidas, e em seguida a comparação entre os jovens de Curitiba nos dois períodos, buscando identificar possíveis mudanças significativas em suas percepções e atitudes, e avaliar se essas mudanças podem ser atribuídas às experiências vivenciadas durante o período pandêmico. Os resultados indicam que os eventos ocorridos entre 2018 e 2022 não causaram mudanças substanciais na cultura política da juventude curitibana, permanecendo ambivalente em relação ao regime político e seus representantes, com a presença de valores autoritários e uma perspectiva pessimista em relação à política, sugerindo que a construção de uma cultura política democrática exigirá esforços contínuos e de longo prazo.

This article analyzes the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and the Brazilian political context on the values and attitudes of young people in Curitiba. The study’s hypothesis is that the pandemic intensified the phenomenon of political alienation and distrust in institutions among young people, affecting their confidence in the future and perception of politics. The methodology used is quantitative, employing a survey research method conducted in the city of Curitiba, Paraná, at two different time points: 2016, before the political radicalization and the pandemic, and in 2022. Data analysis presents the perception of young people regarding the pandemic, seeking to analyze the divergences among them regarding the effects of COVID-19 on their lives, and then the comparison between the young people of Curitiba in the two periods, aiming to identify possible significant changes in their perceptions and attitudes and assess whether these changes can be attributed to experiences occurred during the pandemic period. The results indicate that the events that took place between 2018 and 2022 did not cause substantial changes in the political culture of the youth in Curitiba, which remains ambivalent towards the political regime and its representatives, with the presence of authoritarian values and a pessimistic perspective on politics, suggesting that building a democratic political culture will require continuous and long-term efforts.
