Abstract in Portuguese (Brasil)

Big cities in Brazil have grown based on thoughts that prioritized the use of motorized vehicles as the main transport mode, resulting in traffic ways with low walkability levels. Nowadays, the urban draw has been rethought to become more democratic and inclusive, therefore, the evaluation of the sidewalk’s quality is so important. Furthermore, the apply of virtual reality technologies is every day more common in several engineering areas, but, to sidewalks, the most of studies with these tools only seek to identify the pedestrian’s behavior. For that reason, this article performed an experiment in order to assay the perception in virtual reality of the urban mobility technicians from Porto Alegre, Brazil, and to verify the application. The research was developed using the virtual scenario from the project of urban requalification of João Alfredo Street in Porto Alegre. The methodology was made according to the 8 principles to better sidewalks. The research shows that the use of virtual reality is valid as a complementary tool to the conventional methods of sidewalk’s design projects analysis. Keywords: sidewalk; virtual reality; urban mobility. ...
