Avaliação da coleção de obras básicas da biblioteca do Instituto de Psicologia da UFRGS

Abstract

Descreve a atividade de desenvolvimento de coleções e suas etapas, principalmente sobre a avaliação de acervos em bibliotecas universitárias. Relata a avaliação da coleção de obras básicas, da Biblioteca do Instituto de Psicologia da UFRGS em relação aos planos de ensino das disciplinas obrigatórias do Curso de Graduação em Psicologia. A metodologia utilizada teve como enfoque a análise qualitativa e quantitativa, utilizando para isso, a bibliografia básica dos planos de ensino. A lista de obras básicas, foi comparada ao acervo para verificar a existência ou não do material na coleção. Os produtos desta avaliação foram listas de obras recomendadas para aquisição, com suas prioridades. Também sugere o remanejamento de obras esgotadas. A análise dos dados demonstra que o nível de qualidade do acervo é satisfatório.

This tells the evaluation of the collection of the basic works of the Library of the Institute of Psychology of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), in relation to the plans of teaching of the obligatory disciplines of the degree course in Psychology, with the intention of finding out if this collection is qualitative and quantitatively appropriate to its users' needs. It approaches and describes the academical library and the activities of the development of collections: politics, users’ study, selection, acquisition, rough-hewing and evaluation. The used methodology had as focus the qualitative and quantitative analysis, using for that, the basic bibliography of the teaching plans. Elaborated a list of the basic works that was compared to the collection to verify the existence or not of the material in the collection. The analysis of the data demonstrates that the level of quality of the collection is satisfactory. It suggests the rearrangement of out of print works. It has as product, list of works recommended for acquisition, with its priorities.
