A escolarização do doméstico : a construção de uma escola técnica feminina : 1946-1970

Abstract

Tendo como apoio uma pesquisa histórica realizada numa escola técnica feminina de Porto Alegre, analisa-se o processo de formação de jovens mulheres nos cursos industriais e técnicos ali desenvolvidos de 1946 (data de fundação da escola) até 1970. Acentua-se a estreita imbricação entre a formação técnica e a formação para o lar, percebendo-se o doméstico como o eixo que articulava todo o processo educativo. Analisam-se fontes documentais escritas e orais, com base em referenciais histórico-sociológicos, no sentido de compreender como e por que os "saberes domésticos" (os conhecimentos, habilidades e atitudes envolvidos no fazer da mulher no lar) foram escolarizados.

Supported by historic research carried out in a female technical school in Porto Alegre (Southern Brazil), we analyze the upbringing process of young women in the industrial and technical courses given there, from its foundation in 1946 up to 1970. The tight ties linking technical and domestic education are enhanced, showing the domestic world as an axis that moved all the educational process. We analyze written and verbal documental sources, based on historical and sociological references, trying to understand how and why the "domestic knowledge" was transmitted through schooling. We call "domestic knowledge" the know-how, the abilities and the attitudes involved in making the housewife.
