Abstract in Portuguese (Brasil)

This work consists in a numerical simulation of combustion in a cylindrical chamber (burner) for a concentric jet of fuel and air using a commercial software based on Finite Volumes Method. The fuel under analysis is methane. Reactions of formation of NOX compounds are not considered just as well as the radiation phenomena. The goal is to analyze the fluid dynamics of the system, the profiles of temperature and concentrations of some compounds such as carbon dioxide, oxygen, carbon monoxide and methane in strategic sections of the burner, as well as on its axis comparing this results with those experimentally obtained, available in the literature. The considered inlet air velocity is 36.29 m/s and 7.76 m/s for methane. All walls of the burner are at 393.15 K. This work also discusses the achieving of mesh independency. The mesh independency is evaluated on radial lines situated on two different planes which are perpendicular to the burner’s axis. These plans are situated at 20% and 80% of the burner’s length. The Non-Premixed Gas-Gas Combustion model is applied for modeling combustion and turbulence is solved by k-ω SST model. ...
