Leitores em formação e bibliotecas comunitárias como mediadoras de leitura

Abstract

O presente trabalho pretende abordar a importância da leitura, do livro e da literatura nas vidas de cada indivíduo. A partir do artigo “O Direito à Literatura” de Antonio Candido busca pensar a literatura como direito humano, além de apresentar os processos envolvidos no ato de se tornar leitor e em como a literatura pode ajudar a desenvolver e dar ferramentas de o leitor chegar a inúmeras reflexões sobre si mesmo e sobre o meio social do que está inserido, tendo em vista o texto “A Literatura Salva?” do autor Jeferson Tenório. Também aborda o perfil de leitores e não leitores no Brasil, apresentando o papel essencial que os mediadores têm no processo de mudar um cenário em que pouco se lê no país. Apresenta o conceito de bibliotecas comunitárias proposto por Machado (2008) e destaca também a dissertação de Toigo (2019) acerca da importância das bibliotecas comunitárias e de seus mediadores. O mediador de leitura atua como a ponte entre livro e leitor nesta jornada tão subjetiva que é aprender a gostar de ler. Assim, a autora reflete também a partir do seu próprio processo de formação como leitora, pensando em todas as diferentes influências e estímulos que a acompanharam nessa jornada ao mesmo tempo que destaca a importância de ambientes como as bibliotecas comunitárias. Aborda em especial três das bibliotecas comunitárias localizadas em Porto Alegre/RS, são elas: a Biblioteca Comunitária Chocolatão, a Biblioteca Comunitária do Arquipélago e a Biblioteca Comunitária Ágatha Félix.

This study deals with the importance of reading, books and literature in the life of every person. Based on the Article “O Direito da Literatura”, by Antonio Candido, it treats literature as a human right, and examines the factors involved in the process of becoming a reader and how literature can help the individual to develop the capacity to reflect about themself and their social context, according to the text “A Literatura Salva?”, written by the author Jeferson Tenório. The study also deals with the profile of readers and non-readers in Brazil, highlighting the essential role of mediators in the process of reversing the low rate of reading in the country. The study works with the concept of community library proposed by Machado (2008) and also highlights Toigo’s (2019) dissertation where the author brings up the importance of community libraries and its reading mediators. The reading mediator acts as a bridge between the book and the reader in this subjective journey of learning to read for pleasure. The author also reflects on her own process of formation as a reader, thinking about the different influences and stimuli that participated in this journey with her. In addition, she highlights the importance of environments such as community libraries, focusing on three of them located in the Brazilian city of Porto Alegre: Biblioteca Comunitária Chocolatão, Biblioteca Comunitária do Arquipélago and Biblioteca Comunitária Ágatha Félix.
