Neste trabalho foram estudadas as propriedades de compósitos de matriz de polipropileno (PP) com cargas vegetais (farinha de madeira, cana e bambu) visando sua utilização em diversas áreas do setor automobilístico e na indústria de calçados. Compósitos de termoplásticos com cargas vegetais, além de permitirem a obtenção de bom acabamento nos artefatos com eles produzidos, são materiais leves e de baixo custo. Para melhorar a adesão entre a matriz e a carga vegetal e melhorar as propriedades mecânicas, foi adicionado um agente de acoplamento, polipropileno modificado com anidrido maleico (PPAM). Inicialmente as cargas utilizadas foram caracterizadas através de medidas de comprimento e por termogravimetria. Os compósitos foram processados em câmara de mistura, moldados por compressão e caracterizados através de ensaios mecânicos, dinâmico-mecânicos, análises térmicas, determinação de densidade e microscopia eletrônica de varredura. Verificou-se que o aumento do teor de carga aumentou o módulo dos materiais, porém diminuiu os valores de resistência à tensão e deformação na ruptura. Os compósitos com maior quantidade de agente compatibilizante (PPAM) apresentaram um aumento nas propriedades mecânicas em relação aos compósitos não compatibilizados. A presença das cargas não aumentou significativamente a densidade dos materiais, sendo que a adição de PPAM levou à redução da densidade dos compósitos. ...
